SSTD operates across time zones without meetings that could have been a document. Deep work is protected. Decisions are written down.
SSTD is a small, disciplined team working on platform engineering, DevSecOps, and cloud infrastructure. We hire when there is specific, funded work and the right person available.
We read every application. If your background is relevant we will reach out within 5 to 7 business days.
5–7 daysA 30-minute conversation to discuss your background, the role, and mutual expectations. No live coding.
30 minA practical take-home exercise or pair session relevant to the role. We respect your time — nothing that takes more than a few hours.
1–2 daysIf there is strong mutual fit, we move to an offer with clear scope, compensation, and start timeline.
1 weekSSTD operates across time zones without meetings that could have been a document. Deep work is protected. Decisions are written down.
Every engagement is live infrastructure that product teams depend on daily. You will own real outcomes — not proof-of-concepts or slide decks.
Architecture choices, rollback plans, and service boundaries always have a named owner. Runbooks and handoff notes are part of the work, not an afterthought.
Roles are added when there is a specific, funded need. Every position listed below is active.
Own and evolve SSTD's core platform infrastructure. This role works across Kubernetes, Terraform, and cloud provider APIs to build repeatable, auditable delivery systems for client teams.
Integrate security controls across client CI/CD pipelines, artifact systems, and runtime environments. You will own implementation — not just recommendations — and be measured on real reductions in delivery risk.
Build and maintain observability stacks, SLOs, and incident response workflows for high-availability client platforms. You will own alert quality, runbook coverage, and time-to-recovery targets.
Take a product from zero to launch and own every layer: UI design, frontend, backend, database, DevOps, analytics, and reporting. You work autonomously end-to-end — no hand-offs, no silos. You define the architecture, write the code, ship to production, and keep it running.
Don't see a role that matches your background? Send an open application describing your focus area. SSTD keeps strong applications on file for when the right scope opens up.
You have built systems that ran in production and survived the first three months.
You write things down: architecture decisions, incident postmortems, handoff notes.
You can explain a technical tradeoff without oversimplifying it.
You are uncomfortable with unclear ownership and do something about it.
You treat operational visibility as a first-class engineering concern, not a dashboarding task.
Yes. SSTD is a fully remote team with no physical office. We work asynchronously across time zones and rarely need to be online at the same time.
The stack varies by engagement, but common tools include Terraform, Kubernetes, AWS or GCP, GitHub Actions, Prometheus, Grafana, Vault, and standard cloud-native tooling. For product work: React, Next.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
Most engineers at SSTD are client-facing to some degree. You will be expected to communicate clearly about progress, tradeoffs, and risks — not just ship code in isolation.
Yes. We hire globally. The only requirement is that you can overlap with the team or client for a reasonable working window and communicate effectively in written English.
Compensation is discussed during the introductory call and is based on role, scope, and experience level. We are transparent about ranges early in the process.
SSTD is a small team, so growth is driven by the scope you take on rather than a fixed title ladder. Engineers who own more, document decisions well, and build trust with clients progress naturally.
Use this form to apply for a listed role or send an open application. Include enough context that SSTD can evaluate fit before the first call.
